Introduction

The single-plate check valve, also known as a single-disc check valve or wafer check valve, is designed to prevent fluid backflow automatically. The valve disc opens due to fluid pressure, allowing fluid to flow from the inlet to the outlet side. When the inlet pressure drops below the outlet pressure, the valve flap closes automatically, driven by fluid pressure difference, gravity, and other factors, thereby preventing reverse fluid flow. This valve can be installed in either a horizontal or vertical orientation. For vertical installations, ensure that the water flows from bottom to top and verify the correctness of the installation direction.

There are two primary types of check valves. One type is installed at the end of a vertical suction pipe in front of the water pump. Its purpose is to prime the water pump without manual watering, as the pump can only operate effectively when the pump and the suction pipe are filled with water. An idling pump cannot pump water, so priming is necessary. This installation method is used when the pump is positioned above the liquid level, also known as a negative pressure method, such as pumping water from a well. Another installation method involves positioning the pump below the liquid level, commonly used in secondary water supply systems. Since the liquid level is higher than the pump, it is unnecessary to close the pump outlet valve during startup and shutdown, allowing the check valve to be installed at the rear of the pump. Whether the check valve is installed before or after the valve does not affect its function.

 

Precautions for installation of single plate check valve

1. As a one-way valve, the check valve must be installed with its position, height, and inlet/outlet direction meeting design specifications. The direction of medium flow should align with the arrow marked on the valve body.

2. Before installing the check valve, inspect its appearance to ensure it meets all standards before use.
