Swing check valves have many uses, from sewage systems and wastewater treatment to firefighting, power plants, and various household items. One of the most commonly known examples of this valve type is the swing check valve.Its main uses include preventing medium backflow and ensuring the safe operation of pipeline systems. A swing check valve is a simple device designed for the one-way flow of a liquid or gas. It has a disc that swings on a hinge, opening to allow fluid to flow in, then closing to prevent backflow. Swing check valves are designed in a variety of sizes with different features to suit specific application types. There are also some slight variations on the swing design that better suit particular situations

Description

 

A basic swing check valve comprises a valve body, a bonnet, and a disk hinged for movement. The disk pivots away from the valve seat to permit flow in the forward direction and returns to the seat upon cessation of upstream flow, effectively preventing backflow.

 

The disk in a swing check valve operates unguided during its full range of motion, from fully open to fully closed. Various disk and seat designs are available to cater to the needs of diverse applications. These valves ensure unimpeded flow and automatically shut off as pressure diminishes. When flow ceases, the valves close completely to prevent backflow. Turbulence and pressure drop within the valve are minimal.

● Built-in Trim Structure Design

The GZP check valve features a built-in design, with the valve disk and hinge arm housed within its internal chamber. This design minimizes flow disruption and reduces potential leakage points.

●Integral Forged or Rolled Body Seat or Seat Welded and Overlaid with Various Materials

The welded overlay is rigorously executed according to approved WPS procedures. Following welding and all necessary heat treatment, the seat ring surfaces undergo machining, thorough cleaning, and inspection before being assembled.

● Large Sizes Equipped with Lifting Rings for Ease of Installation
For larger sizes, a lifting ring is provided to facilitate installation. Swing check valves can be installed in either a horizontal or vertical orientation.

Caution:

When installing a swing check valve without springs, ensure the cover is facing upwards, and the line's angle of inclination should not exceed 30 degrees from horizontal. Additionally, the roll angle of the valve bonnet should not surpass 30 degrees from side to side. Swing check valves can be installed in both horizontal and vertical positions (with flow upwards). However, it's crucial to note that in non-clean services, vertically installed swing check valves may accumulate dirt, sludge, and eventually jam. This installation mode is also inconvenient for maintenance and service. Before installing swing check valves in vertical pipes, please verify the media cleanliness or consult our engineering department.

 

Purpose of a Swing Check Valve:

A swing check valve is designed to allow fluid to travel in only one direction. An important feature of these valves is that they require no external power, making them suitable for various applications. When fully open, they allow fluid to pass through without significantly slowing the flow.

 

One of the most common applications of a swing check valve is a flapper valve in a flush toilet mechanism. It allows water to enter from the bottom of the tank but prevents it from draining out in the same way. Swing check valves are the most prevalent type of valve in water and wastewater pumping systems. In any situation where backflow could pose a problem, swing check valves are the preferred choice.
