Globe valve refers to the closing piece (disc) along the center line of the valve seat movement. According to the moving form of the disc, the change of the valve seat opening is directly proportional to the disc stroke.
Due to this kind of valve stem open or close stroke is relatively short, and has a very reliable cut off function, and because of the change of the valve seat opening and the stroke of the disc is directly proportional, very suitable for flow regulation. This type of valve is therefore ideal for use as a cut-off or regulator and throttling.
Construction of Globe valve
Globe valves usually have rising stems, and the larger sizes are of the outside screw-and-yoke construction. Components of the Globe valve are similar to those of the gate valve. This type of valve has seats in a plane parallel or inclined to the line of flow.
Advantages of Globe Valve
Good shutoff capability
Moderate to good throttling capability
Shorter stroke (compared to a gate valve)
Available in tee, wye, and angle patterns, each offering unique capabilities
Easy to machine or resurface the seats
With disc not attached to the stem, valve can be used as a stop-check valve
The selection principle is:
1. High temperature, high pressure medium pipeline or device should choose stop valve. Such as thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, petrochemical systems of high temperature, high pressure pipeline.
2. The pipeline convection resistance requirements are not strict pipeline. Where the pressure loss is not taken into account.
3. Small valves can choose needle valve, instrument valve, sampling valve, pressure gauge valve, etc.
4. There is flow adjustment or pressure adjustment, but the adjustment accuracy is not high, and the diameter of the pipeline is relatively small, such as the nominal passage ≤50mm pipeline, should be selected.
5. The synthetic industrial production of small chemical fertilizer and large chemical fertilizer should choose the nominal pressure PN160 nominal pressure 16MPa or PN320 nominal pressure 32MPa high pressure Angle globe valve or high pressure Angle throttle valve.
6. Alumina bayer method in the production of desilication workshop, easy to coking pipeline, easy to choose separate valve body type, seat can be removed, carbide sealing pair of straight flow globe valve or straight flow throttle valve.
7. In the water supply and heat supply engineering of urban construction, cut-off, balance valve or plunger valve can be used for smaller pipelines with nominal passage, such as pipelines with nominal passage less than 150mm.
Globe valves can be divided into straight-through globe valves, Angle globe valves, straight-flow globe valves and plunger globe valves according to different classification methods.
